“Wrapping your brain around data online can be challenging, especially when dealing with huge volumes of information.

And trying to find related content can also be difficult, depending on what data you’re looking for.

But data visualizations can make all of that much easier, allowing you to see the concepts that you’re learning about in a more interesting, and often more useful manner.

Below are 50 of the best data visualizations and tools for creating your own visualizations out there, covering everything from Digg activity to network connectivity to what’s currently happening on Twitter.” from the blog post 50 Great Examples of Data Visualization

Every once in a while on the web you hit something that just sings to you… Well, I’m a big fan of Edward Tufte, and being a visual learner I find these representations of information and data make the complex world a little easier to understand.

A few favorites from this list include:
Twitt Earth
CIA World Fact Book Browser
Ted Sphere

How to Change the World

Published by christian under Uncategorized

Thinking out loud, while I’m reading How to Change the World.. how do I change the world? I’ve very active in my professional association and help friends and family. I’m ready for a bigger contribution, making a really big impact… I’ve contacted several non-profits in the last year trying to find my place. Trying to contribute is a little like trying to find the right job. The charity might fit you, but you might not fit the organization.

So, I want to take my time, treasures and talent and make an investment. And for that investment I’d like to see a return to the community and society. My top prospects are:

One BIG IDEA is engaging the Special Libraries Association in supporting key literacy & education projects around the world.

Any thoughts, suggestions or advice on these projects is welcome.

I’m looking forward to posting some success stories and sharing the experience!
